to this movement. supervisor carmen chu, i know you and mayor newsom had this initial effort back some years ago to recognize the need to abolish human trafficking. an san francisco being such an international city, many of our roots are from immigrant families. we understand the problem. we did do something about it and continue that effort. i want to thank the us attorney's office for being here. and so many of you who have from the community done and continue to do what you can do to end human trafficking. this is such an important challenge for all of us. and because we here at from immigrant families; we hear from immigrant women and girls. the stories are real. they come across international borders. and so san francisco being the city that is not only aware of this, and aware of international traffic that occurs we have to continue doing something about it. if anything, our goal is of course to educate our youth; to make sure they understand that they have partners in both city government and in the community to help. those that are lucky and can survive; all of this and when the

i joined the many volunteers and like mayor newsom before me, i'm simply not satisfied with our progress. over the last 10 years residents have left the streets for permanent housing and services. and over the last seven years through our homeward bound program we have reunited several people to go in their home communities. last year there were no cuts to human health services and i was proud to get funding for other home services but but this is about better reform and innovation. last year, i invited former serious to work with our outstanding human services director and other to apply his bold ideas to homelessness and he's jumped in feetfirst. we now have everyday connect to provide a year around benefits of services. we have online portals so that no people goes hungry so long as they're on our streets. we are going to build a new 1 hundred bed facilities here in the bay area. and under a federal lifeline program a program that this supervisor has add vatd for many homeless people will receive cell phones so they can get back to their case works. significantly on january 1

, really trying to improve on what we've done already. back in 2009 then mayor gavin newsome to the light of all of us had introduced that we ought to really establish some guidelines to open up our city's data. and in the year later, the board, less legislation, the first open data legislation in san francisco that made us cutting edge throughout the country, the first to come out and say to everybody in the public, to people who wanted to create businesses, wanted to look at the city with kind of an open invitation to involve themselves with what the city had. and part of that really neat understanding was that we were holding onto so much of our own data in our own silos with our own very focused obligations that we had, and not realizing that if we had released that data to the public, we could really allow them to help us create even more efficient government, along with some very good entrepreneurial efforts that are reflected in today's announcements and some of our partners that are here today. so, three years later, after announcing this and after doing the first generation of op
